KONE has been selected to supply Burj Azizi’s elevator and escalator systems, adding a confirmed specialist package to the Dubai tower’s development programme. KONE disclosed the appointment on 1 October 2026 and said the order was booked during the third quarter.

The planned 725-metre tower will have 59 elevators and 15 escalators under the package, with elevator speeds reaching 10 metres per second. One lift is designed for a continuous journey of 631.5 metres, which KONE describes as among the world’s longest.

A technical milestone for a mixed-use tower

The development combines homes with hospitality, retail and entertainment uses. That mix makes the management of passenger flows an important part of how the building will function, from residents’ everyday journeys to visitor movements.

Gardinia Building Contracting is the main contractor, while AE7 is lead consultant. The supplier announcement does not disclose the contract value or a new completion date.

How the system addresses extreme height

The appointment coincides with KONE’s launch of a broader high-rise technology range. In a separate announcement, the company explained that the weight of conventional steel ropes can limit uninterrupted elevator travel to around 500 metres.

Its newer offering combines lightweight composite ropes with compact hoisting machinery, wireless power and data transfer, battery technology and electromechanical safety systems. These technologies are designed to reduce the mass that an elevator has to move and address the challenges created by very tall structures.

KONE also describes an AI-enabled destination-control system that learns passenger movements and adjusts elevator allocation.

Imlaak analysis: What the update means for buyers

For buyers following the project, the appointment provides a named supplier and a defined equipment scope to track through later construction updates. The next useful evidence will be installation progress, testing and commissioning, alongside the wider building programme.

The tower height and lift journey remain planned specifications. A supplier appointment alone does not establish handover readiness or future property returns.
