Pakistan Introduces Digital Land and Passport Services in UK
Pakistan has officially launched Digital Land and Passport Services in UK, a milestone initiative for the Pakistani diaspora. The services, inaugurated at the Pakistan High Commission in London by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, include blockchain-secured land record access and a one-window passport system — enabling overseas Pakistanis to handle crucial property and identity needs without traveling to Pakistan.
Digital Land Record Services in UK
The new Digital Land and Passport Services in UK include access to:
Online sale deeds
Fard (Record of Rights)
e-Girdawari
Mutation entries
Document attestation
Powered by blockchain technology, these services provide secure, transparent, and fraud-resistant record management. A Land Services Desk has been set up at the High Commission London to facilitate the pilot phase.
One-Window Passport Processing in UK
As part of the Digital Land and Passport Service in UK, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (IMPASS) introduced a one-window passport processing system. All application steps are now consolidated into a single counter, reducing the process to nearly 10 minutes per applicant and providing relief from administrative delays.
Government’s Vision
Speaking at the launch, Senator Ishaq Dar emphasized that the Digital Land and Passport Service in UK reflect the government’s commitment to modernizing public service delivery for overseas Pakistanis. He praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Punjab Land Revenue Authority (PLRA), NADRA, and the Pakistan High Commission London, noting how this digital leap safeguards diaspora property rights while making processes efficient and trustworthy.
Diaspora Engagement
Dar also met with British Members of Parliament of Pakistani origin, underlining how the Digital Land and Passport Services in UK strengthen the bond between Pakistan and its diaspora. He highlighted their vital role in advocacy, especially regarding human rights issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
